Background: Rachel Lynde is Avonlea's most important resident. She takes notice
of everything that relates to the people of Avonlea and its happenings Rachel has a sharp tongue and is quick to judge others,
but she is slow to recognize her own failings.
Although she and Marilla Cuthbert were lifelong friends, Rachel was Anne's greatest nemesis in her
early life. Ironically, Rachel grows to become Anne's most stalwart supporter.
Rachel Lynde has appeared in every Green Gables production
to date and most of the 91 episodes of Road to Avonlea.
